Mother's milk is the best start for a baby and is generally accepted as the most ideal form of nutrition for babies up to the age of about 4 to 6 months. Mother's milk contains all the nutrients and infection-fighting properties that a baby needs to give it the best chance of a healthy start in life. Currently, more and more is being discovered about the role fatty acids in mother's milk play in the development of the child.

However, there may be circumstances where it is not always possible for the mother to breastfeed her baby, and infant formula is the best alternative. In such cases it is vital that the infant formula is as close a match to mother's milk as possible.

For many years the development of infant formula has focused on bringing the composition as close as possible to that of human breast milk. In many respects this has been successful. However, improvements could still be made in a number of key areas, and concerns over the fat composition of infant formulas have led to the development of new formula fats that provide a far better match  to the fats naturally found in human breast milk.

Betapol® is an infant formula fat that closely mimics the structure of human milk fat. It has been shown in scientific studies to offer unique nutritional and health benefits to babies born prematurely and at term. Betapol® is considered to be a major break-through in the development of infant formula fat products.
